Fraudulent review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We are a senior couple, and my husband is wheelchair bound. Two rooms were without lights.

The tech from Waldron came in and immediately began filling out paperwork, which took about 10 minutes. After collecting $125 call fee, which had to be cash, he went to the switch box, turned a few switches, and the power was restored. That took approximately2 minutes! We were then charged $575, which we were able to pay with a credit card.

He asked how we got their name and I told him on the internet.

He was surprised and asked to see my cell phone. He said, " I'll show you something." He proceeded to write a 5 Star review for the company under MY Name! Not only that, but he then asked to see my husband's cell phone.

I assume he intended to repeat another 5 Star review.

Not only is the company price gouging in my opinion, but it also fraudulently posts its own glowing reviews. Steer clear!

DO NOT under any circumstance use this company. Their behavior and unprofessional demeanor should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

2 representatives came in my home unannounced and upon taking them to the basement, the first immediate claim was to pay them $125.00 in cash which was for them to come to the home?

I was gracious to give them $140.00 and told them to keep the change!

At which the lead informed the junior that it was not a tip?

More importantly, there was an additional $575.00 charge if they were to find a switch? I inquired as to have them provide an explanation for what the $575 would be for and all I was looking for was for them to install a new GFI box in the basement.

In addition the representative spoke quickly in a very confusing manner and started to sound aggressive and somewhat threatening.

When I asked him why he was speaking to me in this fashion he assured me that he wasn't being aggressive if he was being aggressive he would be throwing me through the wall?

I asked for the $140 back and his response was you have a better chance of seeing God and getting your $140 back and they were not in my house for more than 10 minutes. This is beyond good business as I was not only offended but I have felt that in all of my years of paying service contractors far and above what they charge this may be the worst experience that I've ever had with anyone.

It is my belief that the junior representative who is clearly brand new on the job was equally as startled by the senior persons behavior.

Price gouging for emergency service, did not even fix the problem

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Do NOT do business with this company. Waldron charges ridiculous rates that take advantage of people who are in desperate/emergency situations, and in my case he didn't even fix my problem.

I lost power on a weekday morning after my main breaker appeared to blow/trip. Not being knowledgeable about electrical work and not wanting to make the situation worse, I contacted Waldron for service (they were the first Google result for "Pittsburgh electrician same day service"), and Mr. Waldron arrived at my home a few hours later. Once he got to my house, he told me that I would have to pay an $1,800 "diagnostic fee" (I had already paid a $175 call fee for him to show up) before he would look at anything.

This seemed ridiculous, but I needed to get my power back on; I work from home and had someone coming to my house to install a new air conditioner in two days, so I felt I had no choice and agreed. Mr. Waldron told me that a bad compressor in my old air conditioner had caused the main breaker to blow, and that he could replace the breaker, at a cost of $4,780.00. Again, this seemed very, very excessive but in the moment I felt like I had no choice, and agreed.

Mr. Waldron serviced the breaker and my power was restored. He was at my home for 45 minutes at most, for a total cost to me of nearly $7,000 (I later saw that the breaker he serviced is a $50 part).

Two days later, an AC technician came to my house to install my new AC unit. Once the new unit was installed, we turned it on to test it, and the main breaker tripped again, cutting off my power.

The AC tech diagnosed the problem as bad wiring in my electrical system; it had nothing to do with the breaker or the old air conditioner. The AC tech serviced the wiring, and everything is now fine. So Waldron charged me an $1,800.00 "diagnostic fee", which did not make a correct diagnosis, and another $4,800.00 to service a part that had nothing to do with the actual problem. He took almost $7,000.00 of my money for basically nothing.

I should have been smarter, but this is a pattern with Mr. Waldron, looking through his BBB complaints and other review sites, there are many people with similar stories. This is how he operates, price gouging people who are desperate.

I would also add that after I posted a negative review to another site, Mr. Waldron texted me saying I was "crying like a little *** on the internet", which is obviously completely unprofessional and no way to deal with people.

He also responded to my review and totally mischaracterized what happened, making it seem like I was demanding immediate service, etc, which was absolutely NOT the case, as I never asked for a specific time for service.

This guy is totally unethical and I don't know how he sleeps at night after taking advantage of people like this. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

We own a pizza shop in downtown Pittsburgh. Over the holiday weekend a couple of electrical outlets blew. This affected the air conditioning. On July 5th, the holiday weekend, we called Waldron Electric. It was 225 dollars to walk thru the door. We accepted that. The tech asked for cash and was irritated that we did not have cash on hand. We paid for diagnostic testing of 3600 hundred dollars. They wanted everything paid for up front before telling my husband the problem. It was not a major problem and the breaker box needed a hard reconnect. The charge was 5000

Bad Service/Outrageous Prices with no results

On a Friday morning we lost power to half of our house. We checked the Yellow Pages and found Waldron Electric has good ratings with the Better Business Bureau. WE WERE SO WRONG!!!!!!

NEVER NEVER NEVER let this company into your home. Tom Waldron arrived at 3:30pm and was not friendly when he arrived or the whole time he was there. He is rude, talks to you with no respect. This is while he was in my Home!!!

We immediately had to pay the $110.00 fee for coming, then $525.00 to reset an outside breaker we knew was not tripped prior to his arrival. He charged $2,400.00 for 2 hours of work, and he still had not found the problem. He charged us another $2,400.00 for another 2 hours, and we still did not have the problem fixed, or he even knew what caused the outage.

We were stuck because we had no power in half the house. We needed the power back on, and we know he knew this. He kept saying there short in the line. He cut *** in my living room wall to find a line. While doing this he let the plaster, wood and insulation fall onto my carpets that had just been installed. He did not even ask or attempt to put anything on the carpet prior to cutting the wall. At the end of the night I asked if he was going to clean up the mess, he told me "You do it" and I will finish the basement. He finally cleaned the debris prior to leaving, but he did not seem happy with this.

I was so mad that I left and my wife stayed in the house with him. When I got back a short time later, I found that he charged us $6,000.00 to put in (2) junction boxes in my cellar.

When he left at 11pm I only had (2) outlets working in the living room and still no idea what was causing this. So for almost $12,000.00 I got (2) outlets that worked.

He told us when he left that he will come back next day, and we said no. He stated he will call Monday or Tuesday and let us know what he would have to do next as he had to think about this.

During the weekend I had an electrical contactor come to my house. I explained what transpired with Waldron, and he asked by what was the last thing we had done electrical in the house. We had installed a ceiling fan in a bedroom over the summer. He pulled down the fan and found a wire was touching metal with a scorched mark on it. He believed that was the cause of the whole problem. Due to surgery he could not fix the problem. On a Monday we had another contactor come in, and he confirmed this was the problem. This contractor gave us power back in a short time.

When this contractor came into my home he asked who did the previous work and I told him Waldron. This contractor along with the one that came Sunday stated he should be in jail for what he charged and what he did not do.

I have power back in my house and while this contractor was here I had him replace some outlets that are old.

Waldron called me back Monday afternoon and I told him that we are not going to use him. Waldron told me good because he did not want to come back anyways. I told him I saw all the complaints about him, and he should be arrested for what he does to customers. I also told him that I saw a video that he had been arrested in 2019 by McCandless Police for his practices and that the Attorney General was looking into him. Waldron told me that he has no criminal record and this was caused by the Democratic System. No Tom Waldron it was caused by you, your prices, on how you treat people that need electrical help. Tom Waldron should be ashamed of what he does, but I do not think he is. He has done this so many times it is a disgrace.

I told Waldron that I will also be filing a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney Generals Office. He should not be allowed to be allowed to work and come into any home and rip them off again

RIP off

Called this company on August 27 2020 because water had gotten into my panel box it was sizzling and lights were going out in the house. I was scared and crying on the phone that must of been a red flag on me. Cause he was here in 20 minutes. To come was 110 dollars which I thought was ok had to pull out my credit card before even starting then said to diagnose it it would be 975 never said nine hundred and seventy five. I know nothing about electrical parts or prices so I hesitated but said well I guess I have to do something thinking if something needs repaired that money goes towards the repairs like most companies do. But no he told me then he had to remove the outside box so my panel box don't blow up on him. Had to pay the 975 before diagnosing too. Then went to my panel box and shut it off I didn't know I could even touch it I thought I could get electrocuted. Well he told me my main switch was corroded and he could grind it down and try to seal where he thought water maybe getting in or replace the whole box. I said well let's try grinding it down he said well if this don't work I might just have to come back in a month or so and I would be charged all these prices again and my house may burn down. So I said well I guess I should just replace it then he said it was expensive I said again well I guess I have to do something he then charged 9600 yes 9600 dollars on top of all the other charges. And while he was working told me to give my 3yr old grandson a benadryl or something cause he was making too much noise upstairs and it will give him a migraine and he won't be able to concentrate then loudly played his wdve rock music. The total amt came to 10,685 I felt sick thinking what did I just do. So the next day i called another company and went off his work sheet and asked how much it would be to do this work he told me less than 2000. This guy is a scam should be put out of business taking advantage of people like this. I am embarrassed and ashamed that I allowed this to happen to me and I don't want this company to do it to anyone else. Never called for a building permit till the work was done either. Then turned around and told me to turn it over to my homeowners insurance and if they don't pay it all gave me a number to a lawyer who charges 500 and he would fight to get it all back for me. This guy should be in prison.

These people right here are terrible human beings! I don't understand how and why they have been allowed for so many years to continue their scam business. Shame on the state of PA. My elderly parents in Chippewa, PA was just ripped off more than $3000 for 3 breaker replacements. He would have gotten $7000 had she had a higher credit card. That's the only good thing that happen for my parents in this situation. Waldron Electric company is your *** on earth. Don't call them EVER! NEVER call these scammers!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
DO NOT EVER call these scammers! I called them yesterday because I was having trouble with my electricity. So the guy they send arrives four hours after they said he would and immediately has me sign a contract saying I’m “satisfied with work performed and agree [I] knew all prices in advance.” Has me take out my credit card to pay $100 just for him to come out there. Then he tells me it’ll be $1,050 just for him to take a look at my circuit breaker. I say I’m not paying that much. Through a lot of fast-talking about how our photovoltaic setup makes it more dangerous to open up the panel (total bull — you can literally just switch it off on the side of the house), he manages to convince me to pay him $610 to look at it. I give him my credit card again, sign the contract again. After looking at it, he says my main breaker is broken and he’ll have to replace it — for almost $4,000. I’m stunned, but how would I know how much these things usually cost? And my electricity has been out for an entire day, I’m worried about my food spoiling, I’m so tired of dealing with all this, and I just want it to be over. I text my husband at work, who starts googling how much this normally costs. He calls me back, saying a main breaker costs an average of $500, and the average cost to replace one is — at absolute most — $1,300, maybe $1,500. The guy starts talking again — real fast, not giving me any time to think — and breaks down the costs for me, including $800 for city permits. Now, we’ve got a friend who works for the city. My husband texts him, and he says permits for this kind of work would be around $28, absolute max of $50. $800 is completely insane. I tell the guy no, but he won’t leave my garage. Keeps going on and on about how you need a licensed electrician with the city for this work, and most people you’ll call don’t have that (bull), and here’s what a licensed electrician card looks like so I know, and I’d better watch out buying breakers on the internet because some of them are counterfeit, and Waldron gets theirs direct from GE, and on and on and on. Basically trying to convince me I can’t trust anyone but Waldron for this difficult, dangerous, and complicated work. He shuts off all my electricity (the living room still worked) because otherwise it might be dangerous. Earlier today, I called Hanner Electric Heating & Air. They came out, investigated the circuit breaker. They said there was nothing wrong with it — probably just a temporary problem with our electric company — and turned everything back on. It’s working fine now, no problems. Now, here’s the funny part: as soon as I told Floyd Hanner about my experience with Waldron, he *immediately* recognized the name. He said Waldron has the first three electrician businesses in the Yellow Pages and doesn’t want anyone to know it’s the same people. They’ve been taking advantage of people for years, been sued at least once. I initially found it odd that they didn’t take checks. I should have listened to that gut feeling — it’s probably because checks are too easy to cancel once you’re away from their high-pressure sales tactics and have a moment to think. They have you sign a contract saying you’re happy with the work and fine with the prices before they’ve done any work or told you any prices, save the $100 to come out there — presumably as evidence if you try to sue them. (Though they’ve been sued at least once, so it can be done.) They delete negative reviews (which is why I’m copying this review and posting it all over the internet, as should you). These people are con artists, ruthlessly taking advantage of people, fast-talking people into accepting absurdly high prices. Do not let them into your home. Do not give them a single red cent. Tell everyone in Pittsburgh never to trust them. You want a good, trustworthy electrician? Hanner’s your man. I had to learn that the hard way, but you don’t have to.

Dont call him to your home

Thomas Waldron is a crook. He charged me $1700 to change a dryer receptacle and plug. It took him about a half hour to do and the parts cost is about $50. Why would I pay this? I had zero idea of the cost of these things. Never had to hire an electrician to do work before and he spent 15-20 minutes babbling to qualify this. I was caught off guard. Don't become a victim. He starts with $110 arrival fee makes you sign. He initially told me it would cost between $500-800 for the whole job. Before he gets started he tells me once he starts work it will be $600. Makes you sign. Once he had me hooked for that amount he tells me it will be another $1000 to complete. I knew I was being hosed but did not know how bad. Every professional I've spoken to about this said the whole job should have been $300 MAX. Then I learn that he has done this many many times to people and he was arrested on 8/12 by McCandless police for deceptive business practice - false/mis stating credentials and criminal attempt theft by deceptive false impression. He is due in court on Nov 13th. Google "Pittsburgh Electrician Arrested" and you will learn all you need to know. He also owns. Also look out for other business names such as Three Rivers Electric, Electric USA inc., 911 Emergency Electric Service, Speedy Electric Heating & Cooling. When I asked him the next day why it ended up being so much more than his original estimate he refused to answer. I was going to dispute with my bank but he would try to sue me whereas he would settle for a fair amount but with a *** order. I would rather let the public know and allow the Attorney General take it from here. He will likely lose another case like the one he lost in 2002 ti AG Jesse Harvey for $41k - 94 victims total. There are SEVERAL complaints they are working with already.

DO NOT ALLOW THESE PEOPLE IN YOUR HOME

I called this company because I had a brand new dishwasher that was not working. Immediately upon arrival the man told me there was a $90 visit fee which needed to be paid cash before he would even assess my issue. Then he said it would cost me $675 to diagnose the issue and install a new line or rewire the existing line. He then got out he flash light and flicked a switch under the dishwasher and it began to work. I asked if I would be refunded part of the money because he never did any work or had to hook up any equipment to diagnose a problem. He refused and I asked him to leave my home. I immediately called the company to let them know how I was robbed by their employee. The woman answering the phone refused to give me a number or email for a supervisor and then hung up on me. This man was in my home for 7 minutes total and I was charged a total of $765 to flip a light switch. I have yet to receive a phone call back from a supervisor.

I just got back from visiting my good friend in the North Hills. They own their own electrical company. I was discussed when my friend was telling me the stories of how these people rip of the elderly. That my friends husband goes in after these people have been called to fix the original issue that was never addressed but this company will take thousands from the elderly and say they did fix it. He was down at the Home and Garden show and announced to everyone he would show the other companies how to rip off the elderly. He (the owner) was kicked out if the show. This man should NOT be in business!! I dont know how he sleeps at night!
